Dr. Razib Iqbal joined the Computer Science Department at Missouri State University (MSU) in the Fall of 2015 as an Assistant Professor. His academic background is in Computer Science. He received a B.Sc. degree from North South University, Bangladesh, in 2004, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Ottawa, Canada, in 2006 and 2011, respectively.
Dr. Iqbal began his academic career at Valley City State University, USA, as an Assistant Professor of Software Engineering in 2014. From 2011 to 2014, he worked at Bridgewater Systems, a division of Amdocs, as a Development Expert. At MSU, his research focuses on the Internet of Multimedia Things and Smart Environments, integrating multimedia content processing, human-computer interaction, natural language processing, computer vision, and software engineering. Dr. Iqbal has led cross-disciplinary collaborations that secured extramural funding, including a $600K NSF grant as a PI and a $4 million US DoE grant as a Co-PI and Computer Science lead. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles in leading journals, conferences, and workshops. Dr. Iqbal is the founding director of the Multimedia Systems and Communications (MuSyC) lab and has supervised over 20 graduate students. In 2024, he was appointed as one of the Roy D. Blunt Life Science Professors at Missouri State University, in recognition of his contributions and commitment to advancing excellence in research and education.
